Return to Office Strategies for a Reimagined Workplace

As we rethink the future of office space, our blueprint for what constitutes a great workplace must prioritize choice, flexibility, and health and well-being for employees. Since March 2020, Gensler’s research has explored how work has evolved during the pandemic, how worker expectations are shifting, and the impact the pandemic has on the physical workplace. In this session, Cheryl Duvall will share Gensler’s latest workplace research and case studies that explore how design, technology, workplace strategy, and change management solutions have helped clients successfully return to the office. The opportunity at hand is not to simply return to what was, but to create a new reimagined workplace experience that is purposeful, inclusive, healthy, and worth the commute.

Speaker Bio: Cheryl Duvall, FIIDA, CID, LEED AP

Consulting Practice Area Leader, Gensler Southeast Region

Cheryl Duvall leads Gensler’s Consulting Practice Area in its southeast region, pursuing her mission to unlock the full psychological, operational, and financial potential of spaces people inhabit. Cheryl believes space, culture, and behavior are fundamentally interrelated. As such, they must be considered in tandem for organizations to achieve goals with respect to performance, business success, and employees’ emotional wellbeing. Cheryl has spent more than 35 years using organization design, change management, and workplace strategy to lead clients through alternative office designs and transformational moments. She is an expert at aligning real estate strategies with cultures, producing resilient individuals and organizations. 

Cheryl has an M.S. in Positive Organization Development and Change and a B.S. in Interior Design. She is a regular speaker at distinguished international conferences such as IFMA’s World Workplace, NeoCon, and the World Appreciative Inquiry Conference. Cheryl is a past President of the International Interior Design Association (IIDA), and was inducted into its College of Fellows (FIIDA).
